About Chris

Hi, I’m Chris Kohler. I have been writing about videogames in exchange for money for 20 years.

I founded WIRED’s gaming section Game|Life in 2005, and served as its editor from then until January 2017. I am currently Features Editor at Kotaku.

I am the author of Power-Up: How Japanese Video Games Gave the World an Extra Life, originally published in 2004 by BradyGames and republished in a new, definitive edition by Dover Publications in October 2016.

Other books include Retro Gaming Hacks (O’Reilly) and the Good Job, Brain! book of pub trivia, puzzles, and quizzes, based on the two-time Stitcher Award-winning podcast that I co-host, Good Job, Brain!

I have moderated and appeared on panels at events like DICE, Penny Arcade Expo, Game Developers Conference, and many more.

You can reach me at wiredkohler at gmail.
